Abstract

Starting from a variational interpretation of enthalpy, this paper formulates a relativistically covariant version of the Euler–Korteweg equations of fluid dynamics. The system has a canonical Lagrangian and converges in the non-relativistic limit to Dunn and Serrin’s formulation.
